WasteBid.com Press Release
October 12, 2001

(Fairfax, VA - October 12, 2001) - Mr. Bob Brickner, Chief Marketing Officer of WasteBid.com (WasteBid) announced today the selection of Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) and WasteBid to provide the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) with solid waste management consulting support to advance awareness and document the potential financial benefits of recycling within the workplace environment for local businesses. GBB has been contracted and will be working in association with Internet technology firm, WasteBid.com, Inc. (WasteBid), to assist approximately 100 of the largest commercial facilities in the region as part of an innovative Internet-based outreach project.

SWACO, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, the regional solid waste management agency that includes the City of Columbus and Franklin County, is working to reduce the amount of paper disposed of in central Ohio landfills by 20,000 tons over the next year. The reduction of paper in the landfills will assist the community with meeting its mandated goal of 25 percent waste reduction in the overall waste stream.

Mr. Brickner stated: "The key business managers within the workplace environment have increased their use of the Internet to communicate and research improved business opportunities. SWACO hired the GBB/WasteBid team to develop a specific database and web-based communication tool to allow the review of company-by-company waste generation data, current waste collection practices and costs, and current levels of onsite recycling. This tool will be used to point out increased recycling opportunities."

The consultant team will integrate the initial business information and local services offered by regional recyclers and waste collection companies into WasteBid's evaluation tool, termed the "Smart Engine". The Smart Engine identifies cost-saving opportunities for each of the respective workplaces and utilizes an extensive database of waste and recycling information, developed from GBB's 20-plus years in the industry.

Mr. Brickner said "the project will establish a unique Internet site for SWACO and the business community that will ultimately provide local businesses with access to information on a 24/7 basis through the Internet."
